THANE: A 55-year-old worker employed with a wooden box manufacturing factory at Goteghar was found murdered under mysterious circumstances on Friday. One of the victim’s colleague is allegedly said to be responsible for his murder. The cops detained him at Khandwa on Saturday.
According to the complaint by the factory owner, the duo were the only two in the factory on Friday and they had stayed back that night.
On Friday morning when the owner came to the factory, he found the body of the victim, Baliram Balli. The accused, who has been identified as Farman Khan, was not at the spot. The victim had suffered several injuries on his head.
During investigation, the cops learnt that one of the shopkeepers in the area had heard loud quarrelling noises between the two at night.
Another shopkeeper told the cops that Khan had asked him for the train timings at 3.30am and walked away, said Mangesh Sawant, the senior inspector of Daighar police station.
Sawant added that based on all these clues, they launched a manhunt to nab the accused and detained him on Saturday evening.
Balli’s body has been sent for post-mortem. The accused had used a sharp object to kill Balli. The cops suspect an old rivalry to be the motive behind the murder.
The police have since taken the body for a postmortem and further probe into the crime is underway.
The Shil-Daighar police have registered an offence under Sections 302 of the IPC.
