Two tigers found dead near Gopalaswamy Betta

Mysuru: The tiger which was prowling near the village on the fringes of Himavad Gopalaswamy Hills coming under Bandipur Tiger Reserve was found dead on Friday. Meanwhile, another male tiger and a tusker were found dead in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve.

Bandipur Tiger Reserve director Ambady Madhav said that the forest staff found the carcass of a male tiger at Kallaiaha Katte forest area at around 12.30pm on Friday. “The male tiger is aged 10-12 years and seems to have died a natural death,” he said.


Meanwhile, a male tiger and a tusker were found dead in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve on Friday. Foresters said that the tiger, which seems to be about 10 years, might have died in a territorial fight or due to starvation.


Nagarahole wildlife veterinarian Muzeeb said that the foresters also found the carcass of a tusker in the same forest range. The elephant had been attacked by another tusker and deep wounds were seen all over its body. Foresters suspect that this being the mating season, the two tuskers might have had a fight over a female
