‘He did not show concern for them in their hour of crisis’

TDP State president and Energy Minister K. Kala Venkata Rao has asked YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to apologise to the people of Srikakulam before entering the district.

“Mr. Reddy has shown no concern for the people of the district when they suffered huge loss due to cyclone Titli,” Mr. Rao said.

In a letter to Mr. Reddy on Friday, Mr. Rao said the YSRCP leader did not utter a word against the Centre during his padayatra. Though Mr. Reddy had been touring the north coastal Andhra region for the last three months, he had not raised issues such as railway zone and assistance to backward districts. In fact, Mr. Reddy did not visit the cyclone-affected areas though Palasa was just 80-km away from his padayatra place, the Minister said.

Furthermore, he went to Hyderabad to level allegations against the government with regard to the attack on him in the Visakhapatnam airport, the Minister added.

Alleging that Mr. Reddy’s friend Gangi Reddy was involved in the Alipiri bomb blast incident wherein TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu was attacked, Mr. Venkata Rao said TDP never demeaned the police nor the health officials.

The TDP leaders, in fact, cooperated with the government in all the inquiries against Mr. Naidu.

“Why is Mr. Reddy not cooperating with the police now?” he asked.

‘Pact with TRS?’

Mr. Reddy used to assert that the YSRCP would come to power in Telangana in 2019. But surprisingly, the party was not contesting the elections there, the Minister said.

“What does this indicate? Does he have an understanding with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)?” he asked.
