A Subburaj | TNN | Nov 24, 2018, 22:47 ISTCOIMBATORE: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP- Railways) C Sylendra Babu has launched an application ‘GRP Help App’ at Coimbatore railway junction here on Saturday. ADGP has requested the train commuters to download the app in their mobile phones and ask help from the Government Railway Police (GRP), when needed.
The app has launched to help the railway passengers. Passengers can seek help from the GRP by using this application and report complaints. They will get confirmation SMS from GRP immediately and the cops who were travelling in the train, would attend the complaints immediately. The passengers can easily report crimes while travelling in trains.
“If commuters notice any suspicious object or suspicious people in trains, can send the images of object or people through the app to prevent crimes. Harassment against women and children or theft relate complaints can be lodged through the app and cop from GRP or Railway Protection Force (RPF) would attend the complaints immediately,” said Sylendra Babu.
He also added that if women passengers are travelling alone in trains, they should install the application in their mobile phones. It would help them to get immediate help from the police.
“We have arrested 31 people since January 2018 for misbehaving with women passengers in trains. Women passengers can lodge complaints through the app and they don’t need to step down from the train to lodge police complaint. Based on their complaint through app, FIR will be registered,” he added.
