BENGALURU: A pet dog has become the talk of Ramanagara town, 55km from Bengaluru, after cornering a suspected thief into a toilet and alerting its owner earlier this week.
The 30-minute drama unfolded at the home of private school teacher Srinivasachar in Vivekanandanagar, Ramanagara, Tuesday midnight.
Srinivasachar said he woke up around midnight on hearing his dog, Ramu, barking continuously. “When I heard him, I could make out that Ramu was alarmed. I turned on the lights, rushed out and saw Ramu standing in front of the toilet. On seeing me, he began to bark louder. It was clear that the object of his worry was inside the toilet,” Srinivasachar told cops.
He promptly locked the toilet from outside and alerted beat police. Cops arrived on the spot and pulled out a drunk rag-picker, who lived in a nearby locality. “The ragpicker couldn’t explain why he scaled the compound wall or hid himself in the toilet when Ramu chased him. We suspect that he had come to steal. But since the house owner did not lodge a complaint, we let him off with a warning,” police said.
