MUMBAI: A Santacruz man was arrested on Thursday for stalking a businessman’s 30-year-old daughter in Khar. The police said that the accused, Satish Chaudhary, would stalk the Khar resident when she would go for morning walks and paste chits on her parked car.
“Chaudhary first spotted the woman two years ago on Carter Road where she used to go for morning walks after parking her car. He has been stalking her since then. Chaudhary used to paste notes on the woman’s car saying he wants to talk to her but did not have the courage to do so.
Fedup of the notes, the woman stopped going for walks and resumed only recently. But the man started stalking again,” said Khar police senior inspector Sanjay More .
The complainant said that this month, Chaudhary pasted notes thrice and every time, he said he wanted to marry her but does not have the courage to approach her.
In the third note, he mentioned his mobile number and this was when the woman informed her father. Last week, Chaudhary landed at the woman’s building and tried to talk to her in the lift.
“He told her he wants to talk to her but when she did not respond, he threw a paper note at her. The woman told the police that she was taken aback when she saw the note. She realized that he is the same person who had been pasting notes on her car door.” “Chaudhary is married.
He had created a fake social media account and sent a friend request to the woman. Chaudhary was tracked with the help of the Internet Protocol (IP). He works at a private company,” said an officer. He has been booked under Indian Penal Code Section 354 (D) (stalking) and under the IT Act. He was produced before the Bandra court on Friday and released on bail.
