Telecom company fined Rs 2L
tnn | Nov 24, 2018, 00:16 ISTCoimbatore: City corporation commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan on Friday penalized a private telecom company for cutting a road at Ganapathy without obtaining prior approval.
The telecom company had damaged the main water pipeline to Ganapathy. Due to this, water distribution was interrupted and water was wasted, said a corporationofficial.
The commissioner has imposed a penalty of Rs 2 lakh on the company for illegal digging and damaging pipeline. A few months ago, the city corporation had warned telecom companies of stern action if they were found damaging pipelines while cutting roads for repairing cables.
The corporation issued the warning following complaints from the residents about not receiving drinking water for more than 15 days. tnn
