Humans are not robots who can slog round the clock, every day of the year, and give their 100 per cent at workplace. This is the reason we all take a break from our work and go on a vacation. But a recent survey done by travel portal Expedia indicated the sad state of affair amongst the Indian employees who are big time vacation deprived and the reasons behind this finding are shocking!

Going by the statistics of this survey, Mumbai is the most vacation-deprived city in the world, and a whopping 88 per cent of the Mumbaiites admit they hardly get the opportunity to go on a trip. In fact, 27 per cent of them have not gone on a vacation since a year and 44 per cent of them have taken less than ten days of leave.

More than half of the Mumbaiites do not take vacation simply because they do not get the time and 44 percent of them avoid taking an off because they get money for the unused leaves.

92 per cent of them take an off for their mental health. Further, 67 per cent work during a vacation and 25 per cent check their mails at least once a day.

This survey was done in 19 countries and had 11,144 participants who were employed and above the age of 18. Shockingly, 75 per cent of the Indians feel vacation deprived and that is the highest amongst all the countries in the survey. It was followed by South Korea (72 per cent) and Hong Kong (69 per cent).
