Four more cases reported on Thursday

The district saw an increase in the number of H1N1 cases this month compared to the rest of the year.

With 12 cases so far this month and nine in October with two deaths, the Health Department is following up the cases, said Dr. S. Sreedevi, Additional District Medical Officer (Communicable Diseases).

However, the total number of H1N1 cases reported this year is 24 compared to over 200 last year. Four more cases were reported on Thursday.

However, the alert on the rising number of cases is taken seriously, especially those in pregnant women, who are more at risk. Two deaths in the district were of children with co-morbid conditions, said Dr. Sreedevi.
