People’s Front reflects the aspirations of the people, says Rahul Gandhi at Thanksgiving meeting for UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi

All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was certain to lose the December 7 election and all the parties have joined the Congress to end a government that failed Telangana.

Mr. Gandhi, who was speaking at the Thanksgiving meeting of Sonia Gandhi at Medchal here on Friday said the alliance with Telangana Telugu Desam Party (T-TDP), Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) reflected the aspirations of the people of the State.

He declared that there will be no one man rule in Telangana and the new government will work with the people. This meeting was the beginning of the end of the tyrannical rule of the TRS government.

He recalled how Ms. Sonia Gandhi stood staunchly with the people of the region during their fight for a separate State till it became a reality.

TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to the people to vote for the alliance candidates and was confident that People’s Front government will take oath on December 12.

Interests of Telangana

An aggressive Mr. Reddy used some harsh words saying it was time for the people to lay to rest the TRS government, led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao, that snatched the rights of people and deceived them on all fronts.

He said KCR has mortgaged the self-respect and interests of Telangana people to the BJP government, led by Narendra Modi, at the Centre.

Sharing the dias TJS president M. Kodandaram, in an unusual style, didn’t mince any words against the Chief Minister saying now he has to confine himself to his farmhouse and there is no doubt about it.

A vote to TRS is a vote down the drain, he said adding that people have welcomed the alliance and it would surely defeat the ruling party. “We don’t have crores of rupees to distribute like what TRS is doing with money made through corruption,” he alleged.

‘Historic necessity’

T-TDP president L Ramana said people need Ambedkar’s Constitution and not Kalvakuntla’s Constitution. He hoped that Mr. Rahul Gandhi will lead the country in 2019. He explained that T-TDP had joined hands with the Congress as it was a historic necessity to defeat the KCR government.

CPI State secretary Chada Venkata Reddy said the people’s front would emerge victorious and a democratic government would be established.

TPCC working president Revanth Reddy and Congress candidate from Gajwel Vanteru Pratap Reddy got roaring response as they stepped onto the stage waving at the crowds.

Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, TRS MLC K. Yadava Reddy and others joined the party and they were welcomed by Mr. Rahul Gandhi.
