Woman killed by truck on Ipswich Motorway in Brisbane's south

A woman has died after being hit by a truck on Brisbane's southside, closing several lanes on the Ipswich Motorway for several hours on Friday morning.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the patient was assessed at the scene for critical head injuries but was not transported to hospital.

Emergency services were called to the Ipswich Motorway at Wacol just after 9am.

The crash site was cleared about 11.20am with reports of delays were easing in the area.

Earlier on, Australian Traffic Network spokesman Chris Hull said two of the westbound lanes were closed and the speed through the area had been reduced to 40km/h in the immediate aftermath.

Mr Hull said traffic had stretched back three kilometres to Darra.

All westbound lanes were closed by emergency services about 10.15am.

Police said traffic was being diverted via Progress Road and significant delays were expected for several hours as the Forensic Crash Unit investigated.

A QAS critical care paramedic and the high acuity response unit responded to the incident.
