A total of 155 primary health centres (PHC) in the State have been transformed as family health centres (FHCs) and eight more are being upgraded.
In the current financial year, another 503 PHCs will be transformed as FHCs, ensuring that comprehensive primary care services are ensured across the State. This was pointed out at a high-level review of Aardram Mission, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on Thursday.
Explaining the progress report of Aardram, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Rajeev Sadanandan said that the improved infrastructure, care and facilities at the FHCs had also resulted in an increased inflow of patients to the public sector.
Evening OPs
The evening outpatient (OP) clinics had turned out to be a boon for the working class, who could access these services after their normal work hours.
The OP clinics in all Government Medical College hospitals in the State were now patient-friendly facilities, offering a less stressful environment to patients.
In the current financial year, 28 taluk hospitals and 13 district-general hospitals were also being transformed to the patient-friendly mode.
The progress of NCD control programmes, mental health clinics, respiratory health clinics, stroke and hypertension management, cancer treatment facilities were presented at the review.
