Six-member gang loots three victims after stabbing them at Khatodara

Surat: A gang of six, including some minors, looted three persons after stabbing them with knives in different areas falling under the jurisdiction of Khatodara police station on Thursday.

Viren Tapareliya was stabbed twice and robbed of Rs12,000 by the gang at City Light at around 8.50am. Six accused came on a motorcycle and tried to snatch Tapareliya’s mobile phone. When Tapareliya didn’t let go his mobile phone, two of them stabbed him and escaped with the cash with him.


The second incident took place on a road from Komal Circle to Bamroli Khadi at about 9.30am. The gang approached Dharmendra Sen and asked him to give the money that he was carrying. When Sen resisted, three of them stabbed him in different parts of the body and fled.


The third incident took place at about 10.15am at Halpativas. Arjun Rathod was on a road near Althan Choki when three members of the gang arrived on a motorcycle. They robbed him of Rs100 and tried taking his mobile phone from his shirt pocket. However, Rathod resisted them and was stabbed twice by two miscreants. They took away with them Rathod’s bag which contained PAN card, Aadhaar card and other documents.


An officer of Khatodara police station said, “This is handiwork of the same gang. Most of the gang members seem to be minors. Physically harming victims for loot in public places is generally not witnessed. We are scanning footages of CCTV camera network in the city to zero in on the gang.”
