IPL 2019: Glenn Maxwell, Shimron Hetmyer; players who can prove expensive at the auction

Indian Premier League (IPL) is the favourite T20 tournament in the world. Over the years it has entertained us with some of the best matches, on-field heated exchanges. The Indian extravagant is all set to come back with another season in March, as per the reports. But, before that, franchise will sit one again for player auctions. Earlier, in November, the eight franchises released the list of players it retained, released or transferred.

The auction will give the released players a chance to redeem themselves. IPL auction is scheduled to be held on December 17 and 18 in Jaipur. Now, as we are heading towards the much-awaited auction, here we see some of the players who could prove costliest at IPL 2019 auction:

Glenn Maxwell

Aussies all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is undoubtedly one of the most destructive batsmen in the world. He has shown his power-hitting batting style in recent 1st T20I against India. Overall, he has had a roller-coaster IPL and has his own ups and down. In IPL season 6, he was bought by Mumbai Indians for $1 Million to become the most expensive buy. Similarly, in last auction too, Delhi Daredevils bought him for Rs 9 crore, but there he failed to justify the money put on him.

Coming to season 12 auction, Maxwell is expected to be one of the expensive buys.

The West Indian big hitter made an impact in India during recently concluded series. Windies only had a chance of winning when Hetmyer was at the crease. He thrashed Indian bowlers in his own style. He never played in IPL before and thanks to his recent performance against India, he may be another expensive player at the auction.

Jaydev Unadkat

The Indian pacer was the costliest buy last season. However, he failed to prove his worth. Unadkat was bought by Rajasthan Royals for whopping Rs 11.5 crore. But, at present, Unadkat has had an impressive domestic game and can be looked as a pacer to lead the side’s bowling attack. He is one of the best death bowlers at present.

Ben Stokes

In 2017, English all-rounder Ben Stokes was the highest buy. Stokes was bought by Rajasthan Royals for around Rs 12.5 crore and, like above mentioned, he too failed to justify the money. His batting and bowling wasn’t up to the mark, and hence, the franchise released him

Joe Root

English skipper is the one of the best players who hasn’t played in IPL. This season, Root is expected to get a chance as he is a good part-time bowler and a dependable batsman at No 3 or 4.
