Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, 21-year-old Ranu Atut is suffering from blood cancer and is admitted at the Shri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS) of Indore and is struggling with life and death. Bhopal resident Ranu is the second year student at Makhanlal Chaturvedi University of Journalism.

Ranu’s treatment will cost Rs 15-20 lakh. Doctors say that Bone Marrow Transplant is the only treatment for this problem, which may cost over Rs 15 lakh. She will need to apply 4 injections immediately and their price is Rs 1 lakh. Bone Marrow Transplant is done only in Indore in MP.

Ranu’s mother Santosh works in as domestic help and she does not have enough money to treat her daughter. Ranu has been undergoing treatment for last two years. Santosh has also sold her share of ancestral land for the treatment.

According to doctors of the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences, the treatment of Ranu should not be delayed at all.Santosh says that her divorce from her husband was done when Ranu was only 2 years old.

But in all the opposite situations, she taught Ranu and now she is a meritorious student of journalism. But she is now broken by her illness. Santosh has requested the state government, MLA Vishwas Sarang and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh to come forward to save her daughter’s life and arrange funds for her treatment.

Filling her eyes with tears, she asks, “Ranu is my only daughter. Will Sarang Bhaiyya and Mama Shivraj will not come forward to save her life.” Santosh says that the code of conduct should not be used as an excuse for not providing treatment, because the Code of Conduct does not apply to the emergency treatment and the EC also offers a relaxation in this.
