Three held for looting people after offering lifts on e-way

GREATER NOIDA: Police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers after a gunfight in Kasna on Wednesday. Three of the gang members have been arrested.
The accused have been identified as Javed, a resident of Bilaspur village in Dankaur, and Dalelgarh village residents Manish and Mohit, who are brothers. Two gang members, Pushpendra and Puneet, are on the run. Cops said the gang, which was being led by Javed, used to offer people lifts on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and then rob them. Two stolen rifles, one pistol, one scooter, a Hyundai i20 car and Rs 13,000 in cash were recovered from their possession.
Javed and Manish, who were headed towards Pari Chowk, were stopped by cops for a patrol check near Chuhadpur underpass around 11pm on Wednesday. “They were asked to stop but they kept on riding. The police team gave chase. Their scooter slipped and both fell to the ground, and they opened fire at police. The officers retaliated and Javed was hit in his leg. Manish tried to eacape but he was nabbed too,” said Ramphal Singh, SHO of Kasna police station.
“On questioning, Manish further revealed that his brother Mohit was also part of the gang. He was arrested from his house around 2am on Thursday,” Singh added. The SHO said the arrested trio admitted after questioning that they used to rob people at the Expressway and had alsso stolen a guard’s rifle near Sector 37 in Noida
Cops claimed to have solved three cases of robbery with the arrests, out of which two are registered in Noida Sector 39 police station while was filed on October 23 in Kasna police station.
“We are looking into their criminal history,” Singh added.
The trio was produced in a local court and sent to judicial custody on Thursday.
