A compilation of 86 gold, silver and bronze trophies were awarded and regular visitor to Weston, eat: festivals, received three awards on the night.

Almost 300 guests took part and the ceremony was organized by former Bath and England rugby player Phil de Glanville and Laura Rawlings from BBC Radio Bristol.

The eat:festivals team won gold in the responsible, ethical and sustainable tourism category, along with the event of the year and the Winners of Winners Award.

Co-organiser of the food events, Sarah Milner Simonds, said: “We have not come down yet and to win twice and then to realise we had been selected as the winners of winners is so shocking.

“Thank you to all those who make all of our festivals possible; our sponsors, backers, crew, producers, partners and the thousands who visit.”

In the Festival of the Year category, Weston’s Lions Club won a bronze award for its real ale and cider event and the town’s visitor information centre won a silver award on the night.

Tourism manager at Weston Visitor Centre, Caroline Darlington, said “We are absolutely thrilled to win the Visitor Information Service of the Year award.”
