Man makes 36 vertical rotations with it in mouth per minute

Manoj Kumar Moharana, a youth from Odisha’s Ganjam district, set a Guinness World Record by making 36 vertical rotations of a toothpick in the mouth in one minute.

For the 24-year-old post graduate in mathematics, this was Mr. Moharana’s second record. On August 28, 2017, he broke a Guinness World Record title that stood unbeaten for eight years by stuffing 459 drinking straws in his mouth.

In his recent feat, displayed in Berhampur on September 5, he placed a toothpick in his mouth and rotated it vertically (360 degrees) 36 times in one minute using his tongue, breaking the earlier record of 32 rotations held by fellow Indian Dinesh Shivnath Upadhyay.

Authorities of ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ recognised his achievement on October 22.

Mr. Moharana hails from Bhabarada village of Ganjam district. For last three years, he has been trying to get his name mentioned in various record books.

He said he had made similar attempts before. In 2015, he had tried to create a record in his field of mathematics. He had attempted to write squares of all numbers from 1 to 1000 from memory in 49 seconds. But,the panel did not accept it.
