“Tourism is big business and a vital industry to our State’s economy directly employing 171,200 people which accounts for 1 in 22 jobs in NSW,” Mr Marshall said.
“I thank all of the winners for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to offering the very best tourism and events experiences and congratulate them on this outstanding achievement.
“NSW is the proud home of iconic landmarks, stunning beaches, a cosmopolitan capital city and breathtaking outback, yet for so many visitors their highlight is the people and businesses they engage with during their stay, many of whom have been recognised as part of the NSW Tourism Awards program.
“I’m very proud the NSW Visitor Economy is the envy of every other state, with the greatest share of domestic and international visitors, visitor nights and expenditure, and an impressive calendar of major events.”
Seventy-one award winners were announced in a range of categories including Major Tourist Attractions, Festivals and Events, Destination Marketing and Accommodation.
Four winners were inducted into the NSW Tourism Awards Hall of Fame including Parkes Shire Council – 2018 Parkes Elvis Festival, Sand Dune Adventures, Lets Go Surfing Australia and Cupitt’s Winery and Brewery, which took out top honours in their respective categories for the third year in a row.
Managed by the Tourism Industry division of the NSW Business Chamber and supported by the NSW Government, the NSW Tourism Awards celebrate and acknowledge tourism excellence in NSW. The winners will go on to represent NSW at the Australian Tourism Awards in March 2019.
