Instagram has announced that it is testing new profile layouts that may see several features re-arranged at the top of the user's profile.

"Over the next several weeks, you may see features re-arranged at the top of your profile including changes to icons, buttons and the way you navigate between tabs, which we hope will make profiles easier and cleaner to use. The photos and videos you’ve shared on your grid won’t change" the company said in a blogpost.

It also provided some examples of potential changes, wherein there is more emphasis on the user bio instead of the person's follower count which is being shown in a smaller font.

Instagram said they will test these changes in various combinations in a phased manner in the coming weeks.

Earlier this week, the Facebook-owned service said it is cracking down on fake followers, likes, and comments that is generated by applications designed to make accounts appear more popular than they actually are.

"Recently, we've seen accounts use third-party apps to artificially grow their audience. Starting today, we will begin removing inauthentic likes, follows and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity" Instagram said in a blog post.
