GURUGRAM: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has lodged a police complaint against one of its employees for syphoning off money that was paid to the discom as fees.
Officials said the complaint was lodged on Wednesday. The Sector 14 sub divisional officer reported the embezzlement. An FIR has been filed at the Civil Lines police station.

“There are three employees on the bills desk at the discom office in Sector 14. These employees were supposed to accept money from consumers when they came to pay electricity bills. The payments have to reflect on the computer. But in this case, no changes were made in the records after taking money,” said a discom official.

TOI contacted subdivisional officer Pawan Grover who reported the case several times but he did not respond. Anil Goyal, superintendent engineer, also did not respond to calls from TOI despite many attempts.

However, police said that of the three employees who work on the bills desk of the Sector 14 office, the FIR was filed against one employee.

“An FIR was filed against Indrajit, who is a cashier, under sections 406, 420, 468 and 471 of the IPC and section 120 B of the prevention of corruption Act,” a police officer said.

Police said they are also investigating the role of the other two employees.

“A total amount of Rs 20.5 lakh has been embezzled. We don’t have details on the duration of time for which this has been happening. The embezzled amount could be much more. We are trying to ascertain that,” a police officer said.
