more-in

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation attached 648 bank accounts and 670 properties between April and October this year for not paying property tax, it said in a statement on Wednesday, urging the public to pay tax on time.

Additional Commissioner B.M. Mishra said that since 2004 it has been the responsibility of property owners to self-assess tax due from their property and deposit it with the corporation on time, but many people were not doing so because of which the corporation had to attach their properties. Mr. Mishra appealed to property owners to pay their dues including arrears in time or else be prepared to pay penalty and interest along with the due tax.
