K.V. Vijayadas, MLA, to inaugurate dharna on November 26

The North Malabar Railway Passengers’ Coordination Committee (NMRPCC) will stage a ‘yatra’ to the Railway Divisional Office in Palakkad on November 25 to put pressure on railway authorities for implementing various proposals. A dharna will be staged at the venue the next day.

Announcing this, committee chairman Rasheed Kavvayi said at a press conference here on Wednesday that the ‘yatra’ would be flagged off by former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on November 25. K.V. Vijayadas, MLA, will inaugurate the dharna in front of the Divisional Office on November 26.

Demands

The demands of the committee include launch of MEMU service from here; revival of the Kasaragod-Byndoor passenger service; extension of the Executive Express and Janshatabdi trains to Mangaluru; and extension of Matsyagandha Express; Goa-Mangaluru Passenger trains to Kannur; more general coaches on trains; and the acceleration of third track-laying project, among others.
