GUWAHATI: Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) will host a day-long conclave on electric mobility on Thursday. The theme of the conclave will be 'Building a Nationwide EV Ecosystem: Opportunities in the North East'. The event will offer a networking platform for professionals from industry and academia to discuss, debate and strike collaborations for mutual benefits.
Senior officials from leading automobile manufacturing companies and the NonFerrous Materials Technology Development Centre (NFTDC) will participate as speakers in the conclave.
"The northeastern region is increasingly gaining focus, not only as an emerging economy but also because of its immense resources and potential in various sectors. Assam is increasingly playing an active role in the sphere of electric mobility," IIT-G PRO Labanu Konwar said.
An organizer said, "IIT-G is developing new concepts for electric mobility. The institute is developing motors without the use of rare earth materials. We have tied up with a major original equipment manufacturer for developmental projects. Talks are on to forge more such industry-academia partnerships for mutual gains. The conclavewill be beneficial for engineers, academics, industry stakeholders and government body representatives interested in electric mobility."
