PUNE: A 27-year-old employee working in a jewellery shop in Kondhwa was shot at by four unidentified persons on Wednesday. According to the Kondhwa police, the victim, identified as Amrut Parihar (27), received a bullet injury near his chest and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. An offence of attempt to murder was lodged against unidentified assailants at the Kondhwa police station.

According to the police, Parihar is residing in Kondhwa for last five years and is a native of Rajasthan. He was working at Ganesh Jewellers, operating from a rented shop in Yevalewadi area of Kondhwa. The shop owner had gone to Rajasthan and Amrut was handling the work on Wednesday.

Police Inspector Anil Patil of Kondhwa police station who is investigating the case said that the four men came to the shop at around 1.30 pm and following some discussion with Parihar, one of them opened fire at him from a revolver. The assailants later fled from the spot. On receiving information, a team of Kondhwa police station and crime branch officials rushed to the spot.

“Parihar was admitted to a hospital for treatment and his condition was reported to be serious,” added Patil.

The police said that they are investigating whether personal rivalry led to the crime or the assailants had planned a robbery. The police have recovered CCTV footages from nearby areas in which the miscreants’ images have been captured.
