PATNA: At least three student organizations, owing allegiance to different political parties, formed an electoral alliance on Thursday for contesting the Patna University Students’ Union (PUSU) elections jointly. This was decided at a meeting of the representatives of All India Students’ Federation (AISF), All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Chhatra RJD held on the PU campus.
According to AISF national secretary Sushil Kumar, his organization will field a candidate for the post of president. “While AISA will field candidates for the posts of general secretary and joint secretary, the Chhatra RJD will contest for the post of vice-president and treasurer,” Kumar said.
Meanwhile, PU’s central election committee on Thursday interacted with the faculty members and staff to be involved in the electoral process and briefed them about the polling process and counting of votes, said PUSU chief returning officer Khagendra Kumar.
The sale of nomination forms, which began on Thursday, will continue on Saturday. More than 150 forms were sold on the first day. Nominations will be filed on November 24 and 26.
