Sakal presents Mapro Schoolympics kicks off

PUNE: The fourth edition of Sakal presents Mapro Schoolympics was inaugurated at the Major Dhyanchand polygrass stadium in Pimpri here on Tuesday.

Present for the inauguartion ceremony were Radhika Vora, Director, Mapro Foods Pvt Ltd, Shreya Kela, Operations Head, NPAV, Kishor Vora, Founder, Mapro Foods Pvt Ltd, Manish Borse, COO, MJM Hospital, Abhay Bhutada, MD, TAB Capital Ltd, Rakesh Malhotra, Business Head, Events, Sakal Media Group, Sushil Jadhav, Zonal Head, Lokmanya Multipurpose Co-Op Society Ltd and Vijay Santan, District Sports Officer, Pune.

Also present were, Nandan Thakur of M3 Sports, Manoj Bhure, Secretary, Hockey, Maharashtra State, and Stanley D’Souza from Hockey Maharashtra.

Battling it out
The first day of the event witnessed schools battling it out in hockey. In the opening game, Netaji Subhashchandra Bose Boy’s Military School, Phulgaon defeated Angel Mickey Minie School, Hadapsar 6-2.

Vinayak Hande from Netaji Subhashchandra Bose Boy’s Military School scored the first goal in the 4th minute.

Swayam Deshmukh from Angel Mickey Minie School equalised in the 9th minute. Two minutes later Vinayak Hande struck again to give his team the lead.

And yet again Angel Mickey Minie School equalised through Sanskar Sawant in the 24th minute.

Vinayak Hande scored his third goal in the 49th minute followed by two goals from Arjun Hargude in the 32nd and 36th minutes followed by a goal from Vishu Vairager in the 38th minute.

In the second match, St Joseph High School Boys, Khadki played out a 1-1 draw against Modern High School (Marathi), Shivaji Nagar. Rohan Kangellu (9th) scored for St Joseph High School Boys, Khadki while Sahil Bhosale (17th) struck for Modern High School (Marathi), Shivaji Nagar.

RESULTS:
Netaji Subhashchandra Bose Boy’s Military School, Phulgaon 6 (Vinayak Hande 4th, 11th, 49th; Arjun Hargude 32nd, 36th; Vishu Vairager 38th) bt Angel Mickey Minie School, Hadapsar 2 (Swayam Deshmukh 9th; Sanskar Sawant 24th); St Joseph High School Boys, Khadki 1 (Rohan Kangellu 9th) drew with Modern High School (Marathi), Shivaji Nagar 1 (Sahil Bhosale 17th).
