Freedom fighter and veteran Gandhian H.S. Doreswamy here on Tuesday urged the State government to provide basic amenities in slums across the district and also to address issues haunting tribal communities.

Demanding the improvement of facilities in the slums, members of Shramika Nagara Nivasigala Okkoota staged a demonstration in the town. Mr. Doreswamy addressed the agitators and said that he would support their protests.

The centenarian stressed upon the need for immediately providing facilities at slums, benefits of housing schemes to Hakki-Pikki and other tribal communities across the district.
