Prajnesh Gunneswaran figures as the No. 1 in the entry list

Prajnesh Gunneswaran figures as the No. 1 in the entry list for the Australian Open Asia-Pacific wild card playoff to be staged in Zhuhai, China, from November 27 to December 2.

He is followed by Hiroki Moriya, Lee Duckhee, Soonwoo Kwon, Ze Zhang, Zhe Li, Tsung-hua Yang and Yunseong Chung in the main draw acceptance list.

Four wild cards, to be decided between Tennis Australia and Chinese Tennis Association, will join the eight.

Qualifying event

There will be a qualifying event preceding the playoff which will have Sumit Nagal and Saketh Myneni, along with Kaichi Uchida and Renta Tokuda of Japan, in the fray. The qualifying stage will also have four wild cards. Arjun Kadhe is second in the waiting list for the qualifying event behind Di Wu of China who has won the Australian Open wild card twice.

Pranjala, the lone Indian woman

Among the women, Y. Pranjala is the lone Indian to secure an entry into the wild card playoff, along with a bunch of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai players.

Arjun Kadhe, Saketh Myneni and Vishnu Vardhan find a place in the acceptance list for doubles. Mann Shah is the No.1 player, and the only Indian, in the boys’ list.
