The Praja Kutami (People’s Front) leaders will not be part of Ms. Sonia Gandhi’s public meeting at Medchal on November 23 in which AICC president Rahul Gandhi will also participate.
The meeting is not a political campaign but more of a thanksgiving programme to Ms. Gandhi for her role in creation of Telangana, said R.C. Khuntia, AICC in-charge of Telangana, adding that this was so although they had nothing against the participation of People’s Front leaders.
He said Mr. Rahul Gandhi would address 10 meetings, including the one at Medchal on November 23. He would come back to Telangana on November 28 and 29 and later on December 3.
The meetings were likely to be held in Karimnagar, Adilabad, Khammam, Medak and other cities although they were yet to be finalised.
Pacifying rebels
Meanwhile, senior leaders are landing in Hyderabad to pacify Congress rebels, who could make an impact on party candidates.
On Tuesday, former Union Minister Veerappa Moily arrived in the city on the same mission.
