( Source: File Photo)The Congress and Left Front on Tuesday staged a walkout from the Assembly and decided to boycott sessions till November 22 to register their protest against functioning of the ruling Trinamool Congress inside the House.
They staged a walkout as their demand for a detailed discussion on alleged Sabar community deaths was rejected, following the chief minister’s unilateral statement on the issue.
“The state government is afraid to hold a discussion, adhering to Assembly rules, as it will unveil many secrets, giving us an opportunity to question the government. That is why Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unilaterally gave a statement,” Mannan said.
On November 22, the parties will also organise a mock Assembly inside the Assembly premises. “The Opposition is neither allowed to speak nor allowed to raise any issue inside the house. Whenever we try to bring any motion to discuss an issue we are not allowed to do so. This cannot go on forever. We have decided to boycott the House till November 22 (Thursday) and on that day we will organise a mock assembly inside the Assembly premises,” said Leader of the Opposition Abdul Mannan.
Recent reports said the Left Front and Congress were mulling a joint no-confidence motion against the state government. With PTI imputs.
