A father's tragic last kiss: Dad who collapsed while on holiday is evacuated home for one final hug with his daughter before dying

A young father who became critically ill while holidaying in Fiji had his last wish granted before his passing, to be reunited with his daughter.

Jarred Thompson, from Napier, New Zealand, was medically evacuated from his holiday in Fiji last Tuesday after suffering from pressure on his brain.

The hospitals in Fiji only recommended palliative care for the 27 year old.

A 'Give a Little' fundraiser was organised and kind strangers raised $36,000 to evacuate Mr Thompson from Fiji to a hospital in Auckland to be with his daughter. 

Mr Thomspon had been in remission after going through cancer treatment the past year, but suddenly fell ill while on holiday.

Once he arrived to Auckland hospital, he was only able to hear, but not respond.

'He constantly kicks and taps to let us know hes still here,' close friend Thomas Brook wrote last week.

On Wednesday, Mr Brook announced that his friend had passed away surrounded by family and friends.

'To friends, friends of friends, family, supporters and those who have yet been touched by this young mans life,' the post began. 

'Our brother, father, son, cousin, relative and dearly loved friend Jarred Cole Thompson made his transition from this life, into the next in the early hours of Wednesday morning the 21st of November 2018.

'Jarred was in the comfort of his family home in Taupo since Saturday, surrounded by his loving family and dearest friends till the end,' he wrote on Facebook. 

'I would like to take this moment to thank each and everyone of you who was touched by not only this man's life, but touched by his story. 

'We came together in unity to give a little and achieved something beautiful. 

'Because of your love, we got Jarred home and from the core of my heart, thank you. 

The fundraiser will continue for anyone who would like to support Mr Thompson's mother and daughter.
