Google has confirmed that its Neighbourly app is expanding in India. In a blog post, the company announced that Neighbourly is available for Delhi and Bengaluru with plans for expansion to more cities on a weekly basis. The app, exclusive to India, was launched in May this year, with the pilot starting in Mumbai.

Through the Neighbourly app, users can connect to other users who reside in a locality. The app allows one to share queries about area-specific questions, or answer doubts of those who are new to an area. While users can choose to select the neighbourhood that’s closest to them, Neighbourly also allows one to add the residential location and office location for updates on both.

Within the app, users will find questions tailor-made to their interests, and suggestions to form questions that will receive quick and easy answers. If a user is able to help out within a neighbourhood, the app will also recognise them as a ‘Top Neighbour’, who can choose from the best questions, and flag those which are inappropriate or biased.

Neighbourly can understand queries in select Indian languages, that include Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati. It has been tested out in Jaipur, Mysore and Coimbatore, making them part of the shortlist of Indian cities to receive the app.

Others in the waitlist include Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Indore.
