Mangaluru: The missing case controversy surrounding police officer-turned-politician Madan has taken a new turn with a habeas corpus being filed in the High Court.
Shivakumar, the father of Vinayak, 19, who went missing under mysterious circumstances from Madan’s house, has moved the High Court seeking justice, as he alleged that the police department had been shielding its former employee. The court has summoned Madan on Thursday for the hearing.

“It’s been a month-and-a-half since my son went missing. Despite numerous appeals to the police, including the police commissioner, there has been no response from the department. As pressure is mounting, the police are now trying to show Madan as innocent and hold his female friend accountable,” Shivakumar told reporters on Wednesday.

Impressed by Madan’s speeches before the assembly elections, Vinayak, an aeronautical engineering student, decided to campaign for him. Soon, he became a confidante of Madan and began staying with him.

According to Shivakumar, his son Vinayak knew Madan’s secrets and his woman friend, and hence the duo got him eliminated. “My son had told me that Jyothi had picked up fights with him at least thrice. They were not on good terms,” Shivakumar told TOI.

Madan has however claimed innocence, and said the law will take its own course.
