Cohesive learning discussed at science and maths fest

The second day of the fourth International Children’s Science and Mathematics Festival organised by Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan saw enlightening interactions and demonstrations by renowned personalities from various fields, on Tuesday.

Dr. Jimmy K. Y.Wong, Director of Science Innovation Centre, Hongkong, spoke about ‘STEM Education’ that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, a cohesive learning paradigm based on solving problems. “Futuristic learning is the need of the for a robotics driven society,” he said .

Deputy Director of International college, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Bangkok, Thailand, Dr. Janchai Yingprayoon spoke about ‘Inspiring Science and Maths’ at home through audio-visual clippings.

VPM’s Academy of International Education Dean Sudhakar C. Agarkar said how mathematics could be made interesting and palatable for the learners through stories. Managing Director of Eco-science Research foundation in Chennai, Sultan Ahmed Ismail shared his rich expertise in environmental issues with the students. Cultural programmes including the dance forms from Thailand, South Africa and Malaysia were also performed.
