Maruti Launches Refreshed Version Of Ertiga

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. launched a refreshed version of its multi-purpose utility vehicle Ertiga as it faces competition from new models by Toyota, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd.

The new Ertiga, which comes six years after the initial launch, starts at Rs 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom) for the petrol variant, India’s largest carmaker said in a statement. Maruti Suzuki and suppliers have invested more than Rs 900 crore towards development of the next-gen Ertiga, it said.

Launched in April 2012, Ertiga has clocked cumulative sales of almost 4.2 lakh units. It competes with M&M’s Marazzo, Toyota’s Innova and Tata’s Hexa. Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicles sales, a segment comprising the S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga and Gypsy, declined 11.2 percent year-on-year in October.
