NC, PDP explore options to form govt. in J&K, Congress says it will back them
Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Wednesday offered support to the National Conference (NC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to form a unity government in Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress has 12 MLAs, while the PDP has 28 legislators in the 87-member Assembly. The NC has 15 MLAs and the BJP 25.

American killed by Sentinelese tribe on restricted Andaman island
An American is reported to have been killed with arrows by the tribal people of a restricted island of Andaman, police said on Wednesday. Police officer Vijay Singh said seven fishermen have been arrested for “facilitating the American’s visit to the North Sentinel Island,” where the killing apparently occurred. Visits to the island are heavily restricted by the government.
