Mumbai, The BSE sensex on Wednesday tumbled down further by 274.71 points to 35,199.80 on weak global cues.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too dropped by 56.15 points to 10,600.05.
Though, the sensex opened higher by 18 points to35,492.62, later it nosedived nearly 362 points to 35,112.49 day low, before closing at 35,199.80, sliding by 274.71 pts from its last close.
The Nifty recorded day high and low at 10,671.30 and 10,562.35 points respectively.
The sectoral indices like Energy, IT, Power, Capital Goods and Technology dragged the market further, broker informed.The scrips include, TCS, infosys, Powergrid, Wipro and Reliance Industries slid during the day.Domestic stocks began trading on a negative note on subdued Asian indices.
The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.64 pc. The S&P BSE Small-Cap index rose 0.06 pc. Both these indices outperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative. On the BSE, 1,264 shares rose and 1,321 shares fell. A total of 140 shares were unchanged.
