Lalu Prasad says he will prefer to accept gallows but not compromise on principles
Madan Kumar | TNN | Nov 21, 2018, 21:20 ISTPATNA: Incarcerated RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Wednesday said he would prefer to accept gallows, but not compromise on his principles.
In a tweet, Lalu said he was being harassed mainly because he never gets scared by the BJP’s misinformation campaign, torture and sort of blackmailing. Lalu also said he was being ill-treated also because he always remained a vocal opponent of “caste-ist, anti-human and anti-Constitution poisonous politics” of the saffron party.
Lalu, who is currently admitted at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Ranchi after his conviction in a series of fodder scam cases, made these comments on the BJP from his official Twitter handle while tagging a media report ‘Why the BJP is so scared of Lalu.’
Lalu is admitted at the RIMS since August 30 this year. After spending a few months out of jail, the RJD chief had surrendered before a CBI court at Ranchi on August 30, upon the expiry of the provisional bail granted to him by the Jharkhand high court for medical treatment.
Earlier in June 2017 when his RJD was part of the Nitish Kumar-led Grand Alliance government in Bihar, Lalu had said he would rather die, but not support the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s candidature for the post of President of India.
“I will rather die, but not compromise with our principles. We can’t make Ideological compromise,” Lalu had said after being asked if he supports the RSS chief for president post.
