Traditional pomp and gaiety marked the Laksha Deepotsava festival here on Tuesday.

After offering prayers at the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple, the Utsava Murtis of Lord Krishna and Lord Mukhyaprana were brought in a palanquin and placed in a decorated boat in the evening.

The boat was decorated in the form of a mantapa.

The decorated boat went around the mantapa at the Madhwa Sarovar.

This is known as the Teppotsava. The pond looked beautiful with earthen lamps lit around it.

Then, the Utsava Murtis of Lord Krishna and Lord Mukhyaprana were kept in the Garuda Ratha, while the Utsava Murtis of Lord Ananteshwara and Lord Chandramouleshwara were placed in the Mahapooja Ratha and taken around the Car Street.

The Car Street looked glorious with thousands of earthen oil lamps lit in specially constructed wooden rows around it. A large number of devotees participated in the festivities.

Earlier in the day, the Tulasi Puje was performed at the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple. In the afternoon, Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Palimar Mutt, Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swami of Kaniyur Mutt, Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swami, junior seer of Pejawar Mutt, and Ishapriya Tirtha Swami, junior seer of Admar Mutt, joined the devotees in placing the earthen lamps on the wooden rows at the Car Street.

Later, the ritual of Kshirabdi was performed at the mantapa of the Madhwa Sarovar. Vidyasagara Tirtha Swami of Krishnapur Mutt, Vishwapriya Tirtha Swami of Admar Mutt and other seers participated in the ritual.

A large number of women sat around the Madhwa Sarovar and sang bhajans. The Laksha Deepotsava is celebrated during Uthana Dwadasi.
