Woman gives birth and a child, 8, fights for life after two-car crash
An injured 18-year-old woman has given birth and an eight-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a two-car crash in regional Victoria.
Paramedics were called to the scene where it is believed a Ford sedan collided with a station wagon at the intersection of McEwen Road and Webb Road, Kyabram about 9.15pm on Sunday.
The 18-year-old was one of three adults and five children, aged between eight and 17, hurt in the Kyabram collision involving a Ford sedan and station wagon.
The pregnant woman, who was travelling in the Ford sedan, was taken to hospital in Bendigo with non-life threatening injuries before giving birth.
Three primary school aged children in the station wagon were all airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
A girl, aged eight, is in a critical condition and two boys aged seven and 11 are in a stable condition.
The new mother and her child remain in Bendigo both in stable conditions.
Major collision detectives are still investigating the cause of the crash.
