AGRA: A one-year-old survived miraculously without a scratch after four coaches of a train passed over her after she fell on railway track on Tuesday morning in Mathura.
The incident was reported from platform number one of Mathura junction, when her parents attempted to alight a moving express train bound for Visakhapatnam via Agra.
Identified as Sahiba, the child was just a centimeter away from the wheels of Samta Express but was quickly rescued by passengers once the train passed over her.
Speaking to TOI, Sonu, father of Sahiba said, “We were alighting from train when signal went green. Since the train was heavily crowded, my wife Ranu, who was holding Sahiba in arms got shoved off from unknown passenger and our daughter fell on tracks. Before we could raise alarm, four coaches of train passed over her, but she survived without a scratch.”
Sahiba was rescued by a passenger who was waiting for his train. “There was a sense of jubilation among passengers who chanted Radhey Krishna, everyone at the platform wanted to touch and kiss the girl,” said Asif Khan a passenger.
Station house officer of Mathura junction railway protection force, C B Prasad said, “Miraculously the toddler survived without any injury. After the incident, the family was taken to a peaceful area and was given time to recover from the incident.”
Sonu, a scrap dealer of Ding Gate, Mathura district had boarded Samta express with his wife and two daughters. While boarding the general coach, someone pickpocket his wallet which had cash and tickets. Panicked about the wallet, the couple decided to alight from train.
“Without money and ticket there was no sense to travel in train, hence I decided to lodge a complaint and therefore attempted to alight from train,” added Sonu who returned back to Ding gate.
