While honey might be good for a lot of things, the FDA has sent out a safety warning, telling parents and caretakers that they should not give the product to children less than one year old.
????This follows the hospitalization of four infants in Texas who were diagnosed with botulism ????In a news release, the FDA says the kids were given pacifiers that contained honey.
????Honey is a source of spores that lead to the rare but potentially fatal illness which attacks nerves in the body, causing breathing problems and muscle paralysis, among other symptoms. ????Although the pacifiers were bought in Mexico, there are similar products sold through online retailers in the US .
????Due to immature digestive systems, infants are at high risk of getting botulism.
