Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are on a roll, making several public appearances after announcing that they would be expecting their first child in the spring of 2019. After completing a long tour of Australia, New Zealand and neighbouring countries, the couple is now back in the UK. The latest pictures show them at The Royal Variety Performance at London’s Palladium Theatre, where Meghan Markle arrived in a monochrome look by London-based label Safiyaa.

Meghan Markle picks a shimmery black number for an evening soirée

Meghan Markle regularly likes to go against royal protocol when it comes to her sartorial choices. From pantsuits to wearing black at public events, she has never shied from setting the new norm. Well into the second trimester of her pregnancy, the Duchess dressed her now visible baby bump in a monochromatic look. The sequinned strappy top of the look provided adequate shine for the evening, while the overlapping slit detail at the hemline allowed room for the bump. A pattern of leaves in white sequins provided embellishment, and the mermaid-cut skirt embraced Markle’s curvy frame.

You’ll rarely see Meghan Markle in heavy makeup, and this time too, she went with a minimal, dewy base, and wore her hair in a simple updo. To accessorise, the Duchess wore nothing save a pair of diamond earrings, but she was also spotted with a black clutch bag in some pictures. Clutch bags aren’t the most functional, but they do what’s required, which is keeping your credit card and cell phone handy. This party season, a sparkly black bag that can be repeated with a variety of looks is a good investment to make.
