The opposition CPI(M) and Congress Tuesday decided to boycott the West Bengal assembly proceedings till November 22 in protest against what they termed the "arbitrary" functioning of the ruling TMC inside the House.

Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Abdul Mannan said the opposition was not allowed to speak inside the assembly.

"We are neither allowed to speak nor allowed to raise any issue inside the house. Whenever we try to bring any motion to discuss an issue we are not allowed to do so," Mannan said.

We have decided to boycott the House till November 22 (Thursday) and on that day we will organise a mock assembly inside the Assembly premises outside the Assembly House, he said.

Recent media reports said the Left Front and Congress were mulling a joint no-confidence motion against the during the ongoing session.

The no-confidence motion will be brought against the "misrule" and "lawless situation" in the state, according to sources.

Meanwhile, the legislators of CPI(M) and the Congress staged a walkout from the Assembly Tuesday as their demand for a detailed discussion on alleged Sabar community deaths was rejected, following the chief minister's unilateral statement on the issue.

"The state government is afraid to hold a discussion, adhering to Assembly rules, as it will unveil many secrets, giving us an opportunity to question the government. That is why Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unilaterally gave a statement," Mannan said.
