Guj's Statue of Unity could boost tourism in Maha border

The Government is devising a plan to promote tourism in border areas of the state that are close to the in neighbouring Gujarat, Jaykumar said Tuesday.

The Statue of Unity, a 182-metre high memorial to Sardar Patel, is the tallest statue in the world and is located on an islet in Kevadiya in Gujarat's district.

He said the had brought the region on the world map and more than two lakh people had visited the site since it was opened to public on November 1.

He said it could help develop tourism in tribal villages in and better their economic condition.

The said it would provide employment opportunities to the youth in Nandurbar and the Satpura region that lies in both states.
