Man molests 8-year-old, booked

Representative imageGurugram: A man has been booked for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old girl in Sultanpur. He is curre-ntly in police custody for questioning.
The accused has ben identified as Jitender. Cops said the girl, a Class 3 student and the daughter of a construction worker, was playing outside her house in Sultanpur on November 6 when Jitender, who is a resident of the same locality, lured her to his house on the pretext of showing videos on his mobile phone. He allegedly showed her objectionable videos and touched her private parts. He then went to the toilet, and the scared child fled.
After returning home, she didn’t reveal the incident. The matter came to light on Saturday after she finally told her parents about Jitender. Her parents immediately registered a complaint at Women’s police station, Manesar. A medical examination of the child was conducted, after which police filed a case against the accused under Section 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of the POCSO Act on Sunday.
Jitender was detained the same day. “The child will be taken to the child welfare committee on Monday for counselling and to record her statement,” a police officer said.
