Leader of Opposition Harpal Cheema on Sunday said that the blast in Amritsar village reflected complete failure of the state and central intelligence agencies who could not prevent the incident despite having advance information of a possible attack.
“This is a complete failure of the Capt Amarinder Singh government as well as the Union Home Minister”, said Cheema.
He added that the incompetence of the state government can be gathered from the fact that the police had not been able to trace the car which had been hijacked six days back in Pathankot. “There have been ample indications in the past few days. Even the Army Chief had made comments regarding this in Pathankot. There should be a high level judicial inquiry into this incident. Why do these attacks take place at the time of elections only? The same had happened during assembly polls in Maur too,” he said.
Meanwhile, the core committee of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has condemned the blast. In a statement issued from the party headquarter, senior leader and MP Bhagwant Mann, MP Sadhu Singh, LoP Harpal Singh Cheema, core committee chairman Budhram, Amritsar leader Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and other core committee members said that the law and order situation in state was bad and anti-social elements are challenging the state.
Demanding a time bound judicial inquiry in the case, AAP appealed to the people of state to maintain peace.
Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann said that “Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh should leave the Home Ministry.”
Addressing AAP workers at the Sector 9 residence of BJP leader Harmohan Dhawan who joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday, he said:” There has been such a big tragedy in Amritsar today where three persons were killed in a blast but Chief Minister won’t come out of his house. On Dussehra day too, when the Amritsar train tragedy took place, that time too CM didn’t come out of his house. Law and order has been deteriorating in Punjab.”
