HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday announced the candidature of M Gopal from Musheerabad constituency and Bollam Mallaiah Yadav from Kodad seat. The announcement came a day before the last day of nominations as the party leadership had withheld the announcement of candidates.

With M Gopal bagging the ticket, means that KCR has chosen to ignore the plea of home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy who was trying to get the party ticket from Musheerabad for either his son-in-law Srinivas Reddy or for himself. The party leadership seems to have assuaged the feelings of the home minister as it has been announced that Nayani Narasimha Reddy himself will handover the B-form to Gopal to file his nomination as the party nominee.

As TRS candidate in 2014, Gopal had contested the polls from the same seat but had lost to BJP’s K Laxman, who is also in the fray this time.

In Kodad too, former MLA V Chander Rao wanted to contest the polls on a TRS ticket but the party chose Bollam Mallaiah Yadav as the candidate. In an attempt to show that Chander Rao has accepted the party leadership’s decision, he will handover the B-form to Bollam Mallaiah Yadav. In the 2014 elections, Yadav, who was the TDP candidate, had lost to N Padmavathi Reddy of the Congress.
