LUCKNOW: Seeking to establish a direct connect with voters in the tribal dominated state of Chhattisgarh while lending a Hindutva push, UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said Lord Hunuman was one of the most prominent tribals and voters should therefore come out in large numbers to vote on November 20, which happens to be a Tuesday, considered to be the day of Hanuman. "Hunuman sabse bade adivasi hain, vanvasi hain...," Yogi said, while addressing an election rally in Bhatgaon assembly seat of Chhattisgarh. tnn
Reiterating that the state was the 'nanihal' of Lord Ram, Yogi said, "When Lord Ram was on vanvaas, he helped the local tribals from the terror of demons. Just like Ram did in Treta Yug, the BJP is also aiming to bring Ram Rajya in the state."
Yogi, BJP's saffron mascot, has been invoking Ram in the poll-bound state amid rising clamour for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
In an apparent attack on Congress, Yogi said that demonic powers were once again trying to dent Chhattisgarh. He also accused Congress of eyeing the precious land of Chhattisgarh and colluding with land grabbers and also held it responsible for religious conversions in the state. He said that ruling BJP has not only put the state on a growth trajectory but it also stopped religious conversions in the state.
